Kerwa doughnuts

They're called ''Ausgezogene'', ''Kniekiechla'' or ''Kerwaskrapfen''. The speciality made of yeast dough is a popular, traditional festive pastry in the Franconian region. For the Kerwa, but also for family occasions such as communion, wedding and baptism, they are still made by hand with a lot of love, baked and served to the guests according to old custom or distributed as an invitation to relatives and neighbors.
